Deck View: El Reino de los Muertos (Expert Edition) Playing Cards

Created as both an artistic and cultural tribute by Sextante studio, the deck explores themes of life, death, remembrance, and the journey to Mictlan, the underworld of Aztec belief.

Every card features original artwork, from the custom courts and aces to the numbered cards, jokers, and back design. The courts depict iconic Mexican figures reimagined in the style of calaveras and catrinas, including revolutionary heroes and ancient deities. The aces combine traditional Day of the Dead imagery with pre-Hispanic symbols, while the vibrant back design incorporates cempasúchil flowers, papel picado, skull motifs, and indigenous influences.

Deck View: Rattler Gorge (Noir Edition) Playing Cards

Legends. Noir. Western.

The Rattler (Gorge Noir Edition) Playing Cards reimagines the Old West through the lens of classic black-and-white cinema. Designed by Tim Coonfield in collaboration with DeckIdea, this fully custom deck captures the characters, stories, and atmosphere of a frontier town where every card contributes to the narrative.

The two-way back design centers around a revolver chamber, enhanced with intricate ornamental details inspired by engraved firearms. Custom courts introduce a cast of memorable western personalities, from lawmen and outlaws to travelling salesmen, while the Ace of Spades pays tribute to the weapons that defined life on the frontier.

What truly sets the Noir Edition apart is its monochromatic aesthetic. The black, white, and silver-toned palette evokes the silver-screen westerns that helped turn frontier folklore into legend. This theme extends to the distinctive tuck box, which features strategic die-cut windows resembling saloon doors on the front and a circular cutout on the back that reveals the revolver-inspired card back design beneath.

Printed by Cartamundi on Slim Line stock with B9 Finish, the Noir Edition combines storytelling, custom artwork, and innovative packaging into a striking tribute to the mythology of the American West.

Available from Rare Playing Cards for $31.

Deck View: MPC Beta ONE Playing Cards

Smooth. Engineered. Cardistry.

The MPC Beta ONE Playing Cards marked a significant milestone for MakePlayingCards, serving as the debut platform for its newly developed Linen Air Light stock and Beta finish. First distributed to attendees at Cardistry-Con 2018 in Hong Kong, the deck was created specifically to showcase MPC’s next-generation handling technology after nearly three years of development.

Designed by Alex Tse, the deck revolves around the number one, symbolizing both its name and its status as the first release to feature the new stock and finish. The minimalist back design consists of mirrored numeral “1” graphics arranged diagonally across a borderless layout, creating striking visuals during fans, spreads, cuts, and other cardistry moves.

The real focus, however, is performance. The Linen Air Light stock is thinner, lighter, and softer than traditional playing card stock while maintaining enough stiffness for flourishing and magic. Paired with MPC’s Beta finish, the deck offers a smooth handling experience with a balance of glide and grip, making it well suited for cardists seeking maximum control and visual impact.

Available for $13 on Make Playing Cards.

Deck View: Crossed Keys (2nd Edition) Playing Cards

Secrecy. Power. Knowledge.

The Crossed Keys (2nd Edition) Playing Cards draws inspiration from the ancient symbol of crossed keys, traditionally representing the gates of heaven and, when inverted, the gates of hell. Created with mentalist Peter Turner, the deck weaves themes of secrecy, power, and hidden knowledge throughout its design.

The elegant Edwardian green card backs feature metallic gold inks that catch the light without overwhelming the artwork, while the tuck box is finished with subtle gold foil accents that enhance its refined appearance.

With the exception of the Ace of Spades and Jokers, the face cards are pretty much standard but updated with a color palette consistent with the rest of the deck. The elegant back design with gold line accents masks an incredibly intuitive marking system for the clever magician to take advantage of.

Printed on USPCC’s crushed stock, offering a softer feel and improved handling.

Deck View: Rainbow Wheels (Holo Gilded Edition) Playing Cards

Rainbow. Foil. Rare.

The Rainbow Wheels Holo Gilded Edition is a rare and highly sought-after variant of DKNG’s popular Wheels series. The deck features a vibrant rainbow-inspired color palette and stunning metallic rainbow foil card backs. Inspired by the classic Bicycle Rider Back, the Wheels design combines clean geometric lines with a modern aesthetic. The deck includes fully custom courts, pips, and an Ace of Spades, all redesigned to complement the colourful theme.

The holographic treatment continues with shimmering rainbow gilded edges and an embossed holographic tuck box, sealed with a DKNG Pride sticker. Originally, the tuck boxes were produced in six different colours representing the rainbow spectrum.

Between the rainbow foil backs, holographic gilding, and limited misprint status, the Rainbow Wheels Gilded Edition has become one of the most collectible releases in the Wheels lineup. Printed by Expert Playing Card Co
