What is the Butterfly Playing Cards Launch Try-All Set?

Butterfly Playing Cards is inviting the community to do more than just collect. The brand is asking fans and collectors to help decide the future of the next Butterfly deck. The Butterfly Try-All Set allows you to have the rare chance to test and compare three unique card stocks, all while influencing the deck’s second edition.

Created in collaboration with Room One for the Asia Card Convention 2025, the Try-All Set includes three decks of Butterfly Playing Cards, each printed with the same design but on different stock. One uses the 270gsm Sleight stock, another the 290gsm Afflux stock, and the third the 300gsm Elite stock. 

By keeping the artwork identical across the decks, Butterfly ensures that the only factor up for judgment is how the cards feel and handle in performance. Each tuck box carries a subtle mark indicating its stock type and thickness, so collectors and performers can easily track their comparisons.

To gather opinions, each deck contains a card with a QR code that leads to a short feedback form. Once completed, responses will determine the “People’s Champ,” the most popular stock among backers. That choice will then guide the second edition of Butterfly Playing Cards, which will feature a new colorway and a redesigned tuck case to set it apart from the Try-All Set.

This release is strictly limited to 500 sets, adding an extra layer of exclusivity for collectors. An additional incentive awaits those who participate in the survey before October 31, 2025: one person will be randomly selected to receive a prototype Butterfly Try-All Set, of which only five exist worldwide.

Crafted for Magic, Mantis Playing Cards

The team at Butterfly Playing Cards has unveiled the Mantis Playing Cards, an innovative new deck designed by Sean Devine and Manel. This collaboration is Butterfly Playing Cards debut into the world of reader-style marked decks, blending vintage charm with a modern mantis motif.

Inspired by the urban legend, “When you see a mantis, beware of smoke and mirrors,” the Mantis Playing Cards are designed for magic. The deck features a cleverly developed reader-style marking system, allowing magicians to identify the value of any card with just a glance at its back.

The card backs feature a subtle one-way design, perfect for performing sophisticated magic tricks. The deck includes 1885 Bicycle faces, redrawn by Daniel Schneider to enhance its vintage appeal. The court cards have been redesigned, replacing the usual blue with the green used on the backs, ensuring a consistent look throughout.

The Ace of Spades is adorned with a simple and elegant praying mantis, and the deck includes a pair of identical Jokers, providing duplicates straight out of the box.

On Kickstarter, Marked Bicycle Rider Back Playing Cards

Ondrej Psenicka, the mastermind behind the beautiful Butterfly Playing Cards, is back with his latest innovation on Kickstarter – the marked version of the iconic Bicycle Rider Back Playing Cards at an affordable price.

Now on Kickstarter! The Butterfly Workers Deck by Ondrej Psenicka

Our friend Ondrej Psenicka (well-known for his awesome magical performances for being able to fool Penn and Teller three times) has just released the Butterfly Workers Edition playing cards on Kickstarter.

The beautiful Butterfly playing cards series is known as the most powerful magic deck ever created. The OG Butterflies designed by Stefan Eriksson comes with an edge-marked borderless design and unmarked bordered in the subsequent releases.

Now, Ondrej had decided to release the decks that are dubbed to be “the missing link to the Butterfly family”. The Butterfly Workers Edition is the bordered version of the standard Red and Blue borderless marked decks.

This border is done in white color, creating a standard working deck for magicians to do their magic tricks. Not only that this new deck is bordered, but it will be marked! Having the knowledge of the marking system of the borderless version should make it easy to read the marking system for the Workers Edition.

The tuck box for the Workers Edition is a standard CMYK printed on standard stock. Its design is simple and clean – white background with a line circling around the box with the image of a butterfly with flower patterns on the front and the card design on the back.

The color of the line and the butterfly are based on each color variant. All of the aces featured customized bigger pips consisting of natural flowers pattern. The courts and numbered pips are US standard classic faces with a one-way detail.
