Deck View: Crossed Keys (2nd Edition) Playing Cards

Secrecy. Power. Knowledge.

The Crossed Keys (2nd Edition) Playing Cards draws inspiration from the ancient symbol of crossed keys, traditionally representing the gates of heaven and, when inverted, the gates of hell. Created with mentalist Peter Turner, the deck weaves themes of secrecy, power, and hidden knowledge throughout its design.

The elegant Edwardian green card backs feature metallic gold inks that catch the light without overwhelming the artwork, while the tuck box is finished with subtle gold foil accents that enhance its refined appearance.

With the exception of the Ace of Spades and Jokers, the face cards are pretty much standard but updated with a color palette consistent with the rest of the deck. The elegant back design with gold line accents masks an incredibly intuitive marking system for the clever magician to take advantage of.

Printed on USPCC’s crushed stock, offering a softer feel and improved handling.

Virtuoso Paths Playing Cards Announced

After teasing the deck over the weekend, Huron Low announced the pre-order of Virtuoso Paths. This deck takes a different approach from many modern custom decks, focusing less on flashy visuals and more on the philosophy behind cardistry itself.

Named Virtuoso Paths, the deck explores the idea that progress in cardistry comes through curiosity, repetition, and exploration rather than chasing recognition or results. This concept is reflected throughout the design, with card backs that change across the deck to create a sense of movement and progression when riffling, spreading, or flourishing the cards.

Several hidden design elements reinforce the theme, including paths that merge together, interlocking shapes that form stars, and custom court cards featuring a symbolic ring at the center of each character.

Beyond the artwork, Virtuoso has placed a strong emphasis on handling. The team spent over a year experimenting with paper stocks, coatings, and cutting methods to create what they describe as one of their most comfortable and controllable decks to date. The deck also includes four extra "star cards" that can be added to adjust the deck's thickness and stiffness to personal preference.

Priced at $15 per deck, Virtuoso Paths is available as a limited printed-to-order release, with production beginning after the pre-order window closes and delivery expected in September 2026.

First Look: Imported (Burgundy Edition) Playing Cards

Launching on Kickstarter this month, from A. Haines Playing Cards Imported (Burgundy Edition) Playing Cards. This rich wine-red reworking of their classic deck, Imported Playing Cards, is a love letter to the golden age of playing cards, and features strong heritage-led design throughout.

Inspired by antique decks of cards from the late 1800s to mid 1900s, and in particular the import stamps and tax wrappers that adorned decks brought from the UK and USA into South America, the Burgundy Edition is about as classic as it gets, with antique faces and an intricate vintage back design made entirely of pattern work and flourishes.

The deck is entirely designed and hand-illustrated by A. Haines and will be printed on Legends Viper Finish and housed in a soft-touch tuckbox with an authentic style tax band.

The campaign will feature a limited edition copper-gilded collector’s version and earlybird deals for those who back the campaign in the first 24 hours – your support is always appreciated by the small family team behind A. Haines Playing Cards and they hope to see some of you on launch day!

Deck View: Rainbow Wheels (Holo Gilded Edition) Playing Cards

Rainbow. Foil. Rare.

The Rainbow Wheels Holo Gilded Edition is a rare and highly sought-after variant of DKNG’s popular Wheels series. Originally intended for release by Art of Play, the deck was ultimately withheld due to minor printing errors, making it an unusual “misprint” edition that remains fully playable despite small flaws, including a blotch on one Joker and a missing pip on the King of Hearts.

The deck features a vibrant rainbow-inspired color palette and stunning metallic rainbow foil card backs. Inspired by the classic Bicycle Rider Back, the Wheels design combines clean geometric lines with a modern aesthetic. The deck includes fully custom courts, pips, and an Ace of Spades, all redesigned to complement the colourful theme.

The holographic treatment continues with shimmering rainbow gilded edges and an embossed holographic tuck box, sealed with a DKNG Pride sticker. Originally, the tuck boxes were produced in six different colours representing the rainbow spectrum.

Between the rainbow foil backs, holographic gilding, and limited misprint status, the Rainbow Wheels Gilded Edition has become one of the most collectible releases in the Wheels lineup. Printed by Expert Playing Card Co

First Look: The NEW Virtuoso Playing Cards

Have a look at the new deck! This new Virtuoso (still unnamed at the time of writing) deck marks a philosophical shift for the Virtuoso series, moving away from outward spectacle and focusing instead on the quieter, more personal side of cardistry. According to the email newsletter by Huron Low, the new deck is inspired by the idea that meaningful creativity emerges through exploration, repetition, and curiosity rather than performance, the deck celebrates the journey behind every breakthrough.

Unlike previous Virtuoso releases, the design is intentionally understated. Rather than revealing itself immediately through fans and spreads, many visual elements remain hidden until discovered through use, reflecting the concept of gradual exploration that inspired the project. Individual cards offer only fragments of the larger design, with the full picture emerging over time.

The deck embodies the belief that cardistry’s most memorable creations are rarely the result of chasing recognition or viral success. Instead, they arise from countless small steps, experiments, and moments of intentional wandering. Through its subtle design language and thoughtful symbolism, this new Virtuoso  deck serves as a tribute not to the destination, but to the process that leads there.
