Sunken Anchors Playing Cards

Sunken Anchors Playing Cards is a collaboration between False Anchors creator Ryan Schlutz and Penguin Magic, an elegant yet enigmatic deck designed for both mystery and mastery.

At first glance, the deck’s deep-sea blue palette and clean design evoke a sense of calm- yet beneath the surface lies hidden treasure. Designed by Jill Breitbart, Sunken Anchors strikes a balance between customization and usability.

The two-way back features a minimalist double-anchor motif with thin borders, blending nautical charm with visual clarity. The Jokers mirror each other with anchor illustrations, and the Ace of Spades is rendered with intricate rope detailing, tying the theme together. Standard court and number cards have received a tasteful color refresh, staying true to tradition while reinforcing the deck’s unique aesthetic.

For the magician, gaff cards are subtly tucked into each deck, far from the standard fare, and every purchase includes access to an exclusive tutorial video from Ryan Schlutz. Whether you're performing sleight-of-hand or simply appreciating fine design, this deck invites discovery.

Even the tuck box is a tactile experience, made from subtly textured uncoated paper and printed inside and out. A stamp-style seal keeps the deck secured inside.

These cards are printed on Penguin’s UltraLux stock with AquaFlow coating, offering superior handling and durability. Pledge starts at $14 on Kickstarter.

Intaglio Deux Playing Cards Pre-Order Ends Today

Last week, Jackson Robinson embarked on a 24-hour design sprint, creating an entirely new deck of playing cards with the help of AI. What started as an artistic experiment and open discussion about the evolving relationship between artificial intelligence and creativity quickly became something more... a striking fusion of tradition and technology. The result is Intaglio Deux, a bold new take on one of Jackson's most cherished concepts.

The Intaglio series has are inspired by the timeless craft of hand-engraved copper printing plates. These traditional techniques produce intricate, tactile artwork, capturing a depth and texture rarely seen in modern design. With Intaglio Deux, Jackson used those original engravings as the foundation, breathing new life into them through AI-assisted interpretation and transformation.

This deck is also a tribute to the playing card that first sparked Jackson's passion for the craft: the historic New Era No. 46. That deck symbolized the dawn of a new century of design innovation, something Intaglio Deux echoes in its own way, as it bridges past and present with a fresh perspective.

Two editions of Intaglio Deux are available: a Limited and a Gilded Edition, each carrying its own touch of refinement and collectability. Together, they celebrate not only the enduring beauty of classic intaglio printmaking but also the new era of design possibilities now emerging through human-AI collaboration.

Pre-Order starts from $26 on Kings Wild Project.

Hanging Gardens of Babylon Playing Cards

Eon, a sub-brand of Room One Cards, has unveiled its latest project: the Hanging Gardens of Babylon Playing Cards, the first release in an ambitious new series inspired by the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

According to Room One Cards, this launch marks a return to fundamentals, cards that are practical, elegant, and deeply rooted in culture and history. As with all things Eon, though, “basic” doesn’t mean boring. These decks are thoughtfully designed to be beautiful and functional, blending historical myth with refined aesthetics.

This first deck in the series draws inspiration from the legendary Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of antiquity’s most enduring mysteries. Said to have been built by King Nebuchadnezzar II for his homesick queen, Amyitis, the Gardens were described as a lush, terraced oasis in the heart of the desert—an architectural and engineering marvel that captivated ancient writers and continues to stir imaginations today.

Eon’s interpretation of the Gardens is vivid and immersive. The cards feature a rich palette of deep blues, radiant golds, and flourishing greens, reminiscent of Babylon’s famed glazed bricks and verdant terraces. The artwork echo ancient Mesopotamian motifs while maintaining a clean, modern elegance that makes the deck both collectible and usable.

Two editions are available during the campaign, Standard and Special- both housed in a lavish die-cut window tuck box. This packaging design offers a glimpse of the deck’s centerpiece: a 55th custom face card, revealed through a foiled and embossed frame.

Inside, the Standard Edition showcases a cast of Babylonian court figures illustrated in a symmetrical two-way style, paired with bold, unconventional pip placement and fine detailing that adds depth to each card.

The Special Edition elevates this with cold foil accents on select number and court cards, giving them an extra glint of opulence. The card backs, already intricate in design, shimmer with added foil, and the edges are finished in a dazzling lime-green gilding, reminiscent of the tropical vibrancy that the Gardens symbolized.

Printed by Room One Cards and pledge starts at $15 on Kickstarter.

Mucha & Van Gogh V2 Playing Cards

The world of fine art meets high-end playing card design once again in the latest release from 52 MUSÉE, TCC Playing Cards' art-inspired sub-brand. Known for transforming classic works into tactile, collectible decks, the brand's newest additions, the Mucha and Van Gogh V2 editions are visually appealing.

Following the success of their earlier decks based on Monet and other iconic artists, this latest release brings the Art Nouveau elegance of Alphonse Mucha and the passionate brushwork of Vincent van Gogh to life through laser holographic printing, pearl foil tuck boxes, and a level of detail rarely seen in modern playing cards.

Mucha V2: Art Nouveau in Motion

Alphonse Mucha, a leading figure of the Art Nouveau movement, is celebrated for his ornate, graceful depictions of women surrounded by nature-inspired patterns. 52 MUSÉE honors his legacy with a deck that turns his most celebrated works, Gismonda, Zodiac, and The Seasons, among others into shimmering, interactive artwork.

The standard deck features full-face holo-foil illustrations, pearl paper stock, and a tuck box with die-cut windows and Mucha’s famous Gismonda on display.

The special gilded edition elevates the experience further, using Mucha’s Meditation as the box art and offering unique illustrations not found in the standard version. Limited to just 500 decks, each is individually numbered and printed with exquisite foil detail.

Van Gogh V2: Color, Emotion, and Light

Returning in an eye-catching sequel, Van Gogh V2 captures the intensity of one of the most influential figures in modern art. Known for his bold use of color and emotive brushwork, Van Gogh’s essence is translated into a holographic medium that mirrors the expressive power of his canvas work.

The standard edition features the iconic Sunflowers on the tuck box, accented with gold foil detailing inspired by Dutch architecture.

The gilded collector’s edition, limited to 500 decks, uses Van Gogh’s 1887 self-portrait—rendered in pointillist brilliance—as its central piece. This edition includes 14 self-portraits and other rare imagery that give insight into the artist’s inner world.

Both versions continue the brand’s signature side-drawer, dual-layer die-cut tuck design, transforming the unboxing into a reverent art experience.

Also, each artist is honored not just through a single deck, but with a boxed collector’s set featuring one standard and one gilded edition, sealed with a custom numbered label and wrapped in an embossed, pearlescent case. Only 500 collector's sets per artist available.

Pledge starts at $14 on Kickstarter.

Deck View: The Cut Playing Cards

Meat. Culinary. Fun.

The Cut Playing Cards by Kings Wild Project serve up a bold butcher shop theme with striking design throughout. Designed by Jackson Robinson, the tuck box resembles vintage meat packaging, complete with illustrations of steaks, bacon, and spices and in some editions, even comes cellophane-wrapped like real meat.

Inside, the card backs continue the culinary motif with a vibrant layout of meat cuts and seasonings, offering a bold, symmetrical design great for cardistry. Every face card is fully custom, featuring hand-drawn butchers, customers, and meat-themed scenes. The number cards and pips are redesigned to match the theme.

The Ace of Spades highlights intricate meat-cut diagrams with “The Cut” title, while the other aces depict scenes like chicken purchases and lamb displays. Even the jokers lean into the humor, featuring a ham-wielding woman and a pig-pulled cart.

Printed by Mr. Playing Cards with a linen finish, the deck is visually rich, fun, and highly collectible... an imaginative fusion of culinary art and card design.
