In response to this ongoing crisis in Ukraine, Noir Arts released CLEAR SKIES 2024 Playing Cards— a tribute to Ukraine’s resilience and a way to support its ongoing fight for freedom.

The phrase “Big Brother Is Watching You” was coined by Orwell in the third paragraph of the first chapter of 1984, where he described an omnipresent government surveillance system. This theme of pervasive observation is central to the design of our playing cards, capturing the essence of Orwell’s prophetic vision which remains highly relevant today.

Final Days on Kickstarter! Gothica Playing Cards

Celebrate Halloween with iconic characters from classic horror stories. From Dracula the menacing vampire, to Frankenstein the monstrous creation, and the sinister Mr. Hyde, Gothica by the Other Self entwined their destinies into a unique set of playing cards.

Now funding on Kickstarter, there are two editions for the deck: Immortal and Nocturnal. The tuck box for each edition is made with premium stock with a great amount of details. Each deck has a print run of 3000 decks. The number seals are located on the bottom of the box.

Immortal Edition features a tuck box made with premium Italian matte soft-touch stock with dual metallic foil of crimson red and black foil with strategic embossing. The combination of red and black creates the gothic horror of the deck’s theme. Surrounding the box and also the interior side is a very detailed Gothic art representing the beautiful architecture of Gothic churches.

Nocturnal Edition features a tuck box made with weathered paper stock with black ink on the artwork and strategic embossing. The artworks feature a gothic collage, an amalgamation of menacing statues and Gothic architecture of churches. The interior side of the box illustrates a bat swarm done in red and black foil.

The back design for both decks comes with a mirrored design. Immortal Edition showcases the artwork of thistles, thorns and gothic aesthetics with a deep red ink background. The face cards of the deck have four indices, one on each corner. The number cards feature customized pip with a Gothic-style font. All of the Aces feature enlarged pip, with the Ace of Spades having the custom illustration featuring a chalice and a cross with a draconic gothic framework. The background on the Number and Aces cards has fragments of alchemical symbols, which are used for the puzzle quest contained within the deck!

The court cards feature full-length illustrations of the many characters featured in classic gothic horror stories. That includes the vampire Dracula, the monster Frankenstein, vicious furry werewolves, and the evil alter ego Mr. Hyde. There are also present supernatural hunters like Van Helsing and Anna Valeria, along with the mad scientist Victor Frankenstein and the good alter ego Dr. Jekyll.
