Kitten Bubu Playing Cards on Kickstarter

Kitten Bubu is an enchanting new playing card project that elevates the mundane moments of a Siamese cat’s life into a vibrant, hand-illustrated narrative. Building on the massive success of their previous release- The Cat's Diary, ACPC has pivoted from minimalist line art to a sophisticated, feature-rich collection that pushes the boundaries of packaging innovation.

Every aspect of this deck was thoughtfully planned and no detail was overlooked, particularly regarding the interactive tuck cases. The Superstar Bubu edition features a clever barrier grid animation that brings a television-shaped box to life, while the Massage Bubu edition includes a delightful movable eyeball mechanism that responds to the touch.

The court cards display Bubu in various elaborate costumes, reimagining standard face cards through a lens of whimsical cosplay. Each number card serves as a cohesive canvas, blending traditional pips with hand-drawn scenes that chronicle the daily adventures of Bubu and his friend, Mr. Black.

From the iridescent silver specialty paper used on the special edition boxes to the precise embossing and cold foil stamping, the production quality is evident throughout. The collectors will appreciate the inclusion of gilded edges in the limited boxsets, offering a luxurious finish that complements the playful aesthetic.

This release strikes a natural balance between storytelling and contemporary luxury, making it a must-have for both feline lovers and serious card collectors. The project offers multiple tiers, including standard editions and premium collector sets designed to showcase Bubu’s many moods in exquisite detail.

Currently, the Kitten Bubu Playing Cards are available on Kickstarter for $11, with various special and standard editions offered to backers. Prices vary based on the selected set, with the campaign offering a unique opportunity to secure limited-edition runs directly from the creators.

Human Garden- Cthulhu Themed Playing Cards By ARK

Stepping into the world of Human Garden is akin to unearthing a forbidden, ancient tome from the dust of a forgotten era. Designed by Yixian and Lunzi and produced by ARK, this deck of playing cards masterfully blends Cthulhu-inspired bio-horror with intricate art to visualize an ecosystem where humanity is rewritten by parasitic fungi and alien evolution.

Like all ARK decks, the centerpiece of the project is the innovative tuck case, which functions as a structural narrative device. With its magnetic, hardcover-style shell and simulated page edges, the packaging feels less like a card box and more like a mysterious, unearthed artifact.

Inside, the 12 court cards serve as a biological record, tracing the evolution of a new lifeform through four chilling stages: embryo, skeleton, limbs, and humanoid. The faces retain traditional indices but mirror the aesthetic of an old storybook, reinforcing the deck's identity as a fragmented, scientific archive.

A standout technical achievement is the Ethereal HOLO finish. By opting for a subtle, semi-transparent holographic sheen rather than a standard mirror-like foil, the designers successfully preserve the integrity of the hand-drawn charcoal linework and tactile paper texture.

Every element of the deck, from the Seven Deadly Sins-inspired back design to the tentacled Ace of Spades, is thoughtfully planned to evoke an unsettling yet captivating sense of the unknown. It is a rare, cohesive experience that forces collectors to question where human biology ends and the garden begins.

Whether through the standard Forbidden Book edition or the museum-grade Wooden Boxset, this release represents a peak in high-concept, narrative-driven card design. It strikes a perfect balance between haunting storytelling and premium craftsmanship.

Currently live on Kickstarter with rewards starting at $29.90, this project offers a limited window into a truly alien world.

The Mystery of Merlin Playing Cards

The Mystery of Merlin playing cards by Card-Addiction imagines a forgotten volume from the prophet's hidden study, presenting an artifact filled with celestial maps, ancient knots, and fragments of predictions lost to time.

Now on Kickstarter, every element of this deck serves as a cipher, from the deep blue tuck case adorned with intricate gold foil to the meticulously hand-drawn court cards depicting a kingdom drifting toward its inevitable fate. Merlin himself stands apart as the Joker, the only figure capable of peering beyond the constraints of law and time.

Design depth is the hallmark of this project, featuring a celestial seal on the two-way card back that balances traditional mysticism with modern production precision. The Ace of Spades, represented by a vigilant owl, acts as the silent guardian of the forbidden knowledge contained within these cards.

The project offers multiple variations, including a Gold Edition and a striking Holographic Edition where symbols shift with the light, mimicking the fluid nature of prophecy. For the true collector, the "Book of Merlin" grimoire box provides an exquisite home for the entire series, complete with rose gold gilding and a tactile, hard-cover finish.

This collection successfully strikes a balance between classical folklore and contemporary luxury aesthetics, ensuring the deck is as much a display piece as it is a functional tool for cardistry. The inclusion of cold foiling on both the front and back of the cards elevates the visual experience, ensuring every shuffle feels like a brush with the arcane.

Printed by WJPC and currently available on Kickstarter with pledge tier starting at $18.
