Kickstarter: Playing Arts ZERO Playing Cards

The Playing Arts project was originally launched in 2012 with the inaugural deck- "Creative Cards". The idea was to create a deck of playing cards where each card will be illustrated by different international artist in their own individual style and technique.

The project was a success and backers were amazed about this idea and the team at Digital Abstracts received a lot of positive feedback about the final product.

Following that, they released editions One, Two, Three and Special under the Playing Arts name, with the same concept. The project created a buzz in the design community and was featured in more than 100 design blogs and magazines. Since then Digital Abstracts received countless messages asking when will the original sold out "Creative Cards" deck be available again.

After months of planning and development, Digital Abstract are reprinting the sold-out deck and are currently funding the Edition Zero deck on Kickstarter. According to the campaign page, here's what makes the deck so special,

For all the time that we produce artistic playing cards we dreamed to push the boundaries even further. To go beyond static illustrations. So we decided to challenge todays leading motion designers to ANIMATE illustrations from Edition ZERO deck. We will be using the latest augmented reality technology to display animations in real world through mobile AR app. That means you will be able to enjoy moving illustrations not only on the website, but while holding Edition ZERO cards right in your hands!

Animations on the 55 custom face cards of the art deck can be experienced on both on the website and through Augmented Reality iOS and Android mobile app. Printed by the US Playing Card Company on legendary Bicycle paper with Air-cushion finish for the smoothest feel.

Deck View: Playing Arts (Second Edition) Playing Cards

The Playing Arts Second Edition Playing Cards is the follow-up to the first 2014 Playing Arts deck. Produced by the team at Digital Abstracts (DA), an online magazine about art, design, products and trends, the deck features 55 designers and illustrators from all over the world.

The face cards are custom and the standard fifty-two cards are used to represent the distinct style and technique of each artist. Exemplifying the uniqueness of this deck.

Manufactured in USA by the USPCC and printed on Bicycle paper, the highest quality coated playing card stock with air-cushion finish.

Playing Arts (Third Edition) Playing Cards by Digital Abstracts

The team behind Digital Abstracts (DA), an online magazine about art, design, products and trends is back this year with the Third Edition, and a Special Edition of its popular Playing Arts deck.

Each deck features 55 designers and illustrators from all over the world. The face cards are custom and the standard fifty two cards are used to represent the distinct style and technique of each artist. Exemplifying the uniqueness of this deck.

Backers of the project will be able to discover new cards each day and a quick interview with the artist of the Third Edition on the project’s website. Also, DA has launched an international design contest that will give 55 artist a chance showcase their talents in the Special Edition deck. Backers of the Special Edition deck will make up the judging panel once the campaign has successfully funded to choose the winner of the contest.

The decks will be printed by the US Playing Card Co. on their famous Bicycle Card Stock. Cards will be coated with the Air Cushion Finish.
