Daniel Garcia's Maze Deck

Daniel Garcia has long been celebrated for his inventive approach to magic, and his newest release, the DG Maze Deck, carries that reputation forward with style. Created by Vanishing Inc. in collaboration with Garcia himself, the deck is designed from the ground up as an everyday carry that hides a remarkably clever secret.

At first glance, the card backs display a striking geometric “Maze Design”- bold, modern, and visually engaging. But built seamlessly into that pattern is a marking system that reveals both suit and value instantly to those who know where to look. 

There’s no decoding, no memory work, and no straining for microscopic cues. The system is meant to be readable even from across the table, yet remains completely invisible to spectators, even under close scrutiny.

The deck also features a custom Ace of Spades along with several extras: a King of Diamonds with a yellow-and-red back, a Four of Spades with a red back, and two duplicate Jokers, useful tools for performers who rely on subtle switches and structured routines.

Dapper NOC Playing Cards

Minimal. Damask. Secret

The Dapper NOC Playing Cards is a collaboraton between Vanishing Inc.and House of Playing Cards. They have meticulously crafted a deck that caters perfectly to both magicians and card enthusiasts. 

Like the Dapper Deck, the Dapper NOCs also integrate the signature damask pattern. It is featured on the gorgeous, large pip Aces, as well as on the inside of the side-opening tuck box. The back design is maroon with a light black border which makes the cards look crisp and immaculate when they are spread or fanned.

Deck View: Feather (Gold Edition) Deck

 

Elegant. Streamlined. Timeless.

The Feather Deck is the result of 9 months of collaborative work between Travis DeMello and the team at Vanishing Inc. Brooklyn-based DeMello specializes in anatomy drawings and selected the goldfinch feather, because of its ergonomic, symmetrical shape.

The back design may look photographic, but it is entirely hand-drawn. The pastel orange back of every card has been embossed with gold foil in the subtlest of ways. The face cards are pretty much standard with the exception of the Ace of Spades and Jokers.

The deck is packaged in an elegant deep purple tuck box starkly embossed with foil and with additional artwork by DeMello. The Feather Deck celebrates the awe-inspiring beauty of the natural world, and reminds us of the inner-beauty found in the bird's feather.

Card Radar: The World Tour Deck Set by Vanishing Inc

What a cool concept! Released last year by Vanishing Inc, The World Tour Deck Set is a presentation "trunk" of five bespoke packs of playing cards, each highlighting a different country and culture from the turn of the last century. The World Tour Deck Set is presented in a miniature travel trunk, replete with decals from the far-off places the cards have traveled to. A compass in a gorgeous wooden housing, a number of ephemera items are also included in the carrying trunk.

According to the product description, the World Tour Deck Set is more than just a trunk with playing cards. It's a story about the Great Ezra, a turn-of-the-century magician, traveling around the globe and sending these decks back to you, each one with a note. To help immerse you in the spirit of the turn of the century, all the ephemera, from the handwritten notes written on railcar stationary, coasters to tickets, and hotel paper... are included.

The decks themselves are gorgeous, with iconography and hidden elements from the countries, culture, and time they come from. When all five decks are lined up, they create a map of the world highlighting the featured countries: France, Switzerland, Mongolia, China, and Egypt.

7 Questions with Joshua Jay about the Dapper Deck by Vanishing Inc

The Dapper Deck is a beautiful deck of playing cards conceptualized by Vanishing Inc. Magic, one of the largest magic companies in the world. The idea was to create the most fashion-forward, subtle, and sophisticated "look" for a deck of cards yet devised. The result is the Dapper Deck, which is an eye-catching deck of cards crafted from the finest stock and finish.

Available in two base colors, navy blue and Jerry's Nugget Orange, the Dapper Deck is fully custom and adorned with beautiful details. The details are in pastel shades of green, yellow, red, and grey, and each back design is designed to bring out the colors of your wardrobe. For each face card, there will be a random pip that matches the back design, accentuating the uniqueness of this deck. The Ace and the Jokers are very stylized and beautiful, consistent with the theme of the deck.

We had the opportunity to chat with Joshua Jay, co-founder of Vanishing Inc about the Dapper Deck, it's inspiration & design process and Vanishing Inc's next project.

For those of us who don’t know, tell us a little about Vanishing Inc? 
Vanishing Inc started because two best friends got together six years ago to pursue a dream of producing their original material. Andi Gladwin and I were both so passionate about magic, and we wanted to create what we felt would be the ultimate shop. So, we did. Six years later, we are one of the largest and most diverse brands in the world. It's been an amazing ride.

This is your first playing card project on Kickstarter. Why Kickstarter? 
Because this is where the best decks are unveiled. We really feel we have created a special deck, and we wanted to unveil it to an audience that would be excited.

Tell us a little about the background and the inspiration behind the Dapper Deck? 
I think two things are particularly notable about the Dapper Deck. The first is that it's a BRAND that is not only cards, but also an attractive skinny tie, a pocket square, and an AMAZING wooden-polished box. It's a set, and it looks GORGEOUS on a shelf, and for magicians or card players who use the dapper deck, their entire ensemble will be subtly connected. The other thing that's really special about the deck is how subtle and restrained the design looks. Particularly on the faces (Aces and number cards), the design is ever-so-slightly present, in a cool way.

Walk us through the process you took to design this unique deck. How did you approach this project and get to this finished product? 
We consulted two experts from the fashion industry. One works in color palettes and helped us determine the color scheme for both colors of the deck. Then, we worked with a fashion designer to make sure the materials used in the pocket square and tie were of high quality, and that the accessories were considered at the cusp of fashion.

From the project page, what are a few of your favorite reward levels and why? 
You have to go with deluxe box. Whatever level you do, make sure it at least includes the Dapper Deck Deluxe box. Please, please take a chance. The decks are great--raised printing on the boxes, amazing finish, and slick design, but frankly it's the entire package and presentation of the deluxe box that sets this project apart.

What’s next for Vanishing Inc? Can we expect to see more card designs in the future from you guys? 
Yes. We have already completed the next project. It will again come with a gorgeous box (same size and shape but different design). The next series will have FIVE decks, and I am pleased to announce here for the first time the title of the series. World Tour Decks. For the details, you'll just have to wait until we post on Kickstarter in April.
