MYNOC Deck 9: Ice continues the MYNOC series. Each deck in the series comes with a different design inspired by submission using House of Playing Cards' MYNOC Stickers. Hence, each deck will have a different design inspired by the community.

Riffle Shuffle Releases Shark Playing Cards

Inspired by the king of the seas - The Great White Shark, The Shark playing cards is designed by Andrian Valenzuela and produced by Riffle Shuffle.



The deck sports a blue/red/black colorway and brings back memories of the retro Jaws movie poster from the 80s. The wraparound design features the Shark's body throughout the sides of the tuck box as if it was lurking out of the deep ocean.

Funded on Kickstarter in 2018, MOAI is an intriguing new deck of playing cards by BOCOPO Playing Card Co. inspired by a group of giant stone statues scattered over Easter Island located in the Chilean Polynesia. The origin and purpose of the statues is an enduring mystery and the designer translates that visual into these dark-themed cards beautifully.

MOAI Playing Cards is fully custom and prominently features a unique low-poly design of the statue portrait on the tuck, card backs, and the courts. The Aces and Joker are very stylized and modern-looking, consistent with the overall color palette of the deck.

Kickstarter: Jungle Lost Deer Playing Cards by BOCOPO Playing Cards

Jungle Lost Deer Playing Cards is the follow-up to the Lost Deer Playing Cards by BOCOPO Playing Card Co. Currently funding on Kickstarter with a week to go, the new edition now sports an orange colorway. From the project page,

The new version of the Lost Deer selected the burning sun-like orange yellow, with bright and full colors and pure white background. It adds tropical jungle-like enthusiasm in the fantasy-like mystical atmosphere. As long as you close your eyes and take a deep breath, your thoughts will instantly be brought into a tropical jungle bathed in the sun, where elk walking and around with vines. Even can hear the screaming from insects and birds.

The mysterious deck has been designed by Eriksson, based on his dream. In the dream, Eriksson lost his way in a misty woods filled with disappointment and was unable to escape. When he desperately wanted to give up, a roe deer appeared. The high antler was like a flag of pride and led him to step out of the terrible dream. When Eriksson woke up, he translated this dream into his creative inspiration, so Lost Deer Playing Cards was born.

The design elements of the deck is a combination of Chinese and Western Art and Aesthetics. The popular low-poly design in the Western world has been used. The image of a deer is outlined only by lines and finished with traditional ink painting from the west. Beautifully integrating the east and the west.

The new colorway certainly adds to the flashy vibe! The face cards have been designed from the ground up. The indices are more polished, the custom courts have been redesigned to suit the overall style and eye-catching geometric elements on the corner and center of the face cards makes the deck look good for card flourishes.

The card backs feature a vortex formed after the distortion of the antlers. The gradual color change makes the deck look mysterious. The deck is packaged in a minimalistic tuck box, with a wrap-around elk-shaped mosaic design of the deer prominently featured.

Detailed Look at Memento Mori NXS Playing Cards by Murphy's Magic

First spotted during the 52 Plus Joker Convention in Cleaveland, Ohio, the Memento Mori NXS (Nexus) is a spiritual successor to the 2015 Memento Mori.

Designed by acclaimed artist Adrian Valenzuela, art designer behind the original Memento Mori, the NXS, takes the low-poly designs to a whole new level by infusing abstract shapes with the realism of light and shadow.

The result?

An imposing deck mixing simplicity with bold design elements and maintaining a modern, but haunting feel. on the inspiration of the design, Adrian explained,

As we age, we deteriorate, so for this design I wanted to move forward in time, to an older version. The cards are more broken the skull with more damaged and the colors represents the evolution of life.

The fully custom NXS prominently features a front-facing skull on the tuck and the card backs. The Aces, Joker, and courts are VERY stylized and modern-looking, consistent with the overall look of the deck.

The low-poly design combined with abstract shapes works really well. Not only is it eye-catching, but it also enhances card flourishes making fans, spreads and cascades look really good!
