This is Organic Playing Cards' BIGGEST release yet! The OPC team released the Gettin’ Spicy and Saucy Playing Cards yesterday and they were sold out in less than 24 hours! The release features two unique decks. From the product page,

Both decks come with a completely two-way mirrored card back featuring the spicy Chilly pepper and the saucy Jalapeno in striking red and green colorway, respectively. 

 
Like all OPC's releases, the re-colored courts have slight customization and they are recognizable and fun for magic, cardistry, and family game night!

We printed 3000 of each deck which makes this our biggest release yet at 6k decks available!

The team at Mantecore playing cards (Instagram: @mantecore) is looking for your help to design the addition to the series. Submit YOUR playing card design for a chance to win a brick of the next Mantecore deck with your design when it is funded.

If you ever wanted your design on a deck of cards and work with renowned playing card artist, Edo Huang, here is your chance. According to founder Benjamin Loo,

Having so many people love our previous 2 decks and give us valuable feedback on how we can improve our deck, we thought what better way to move forward than to incorporate YOUR ideas and design into our next Mantecore deck.

If you could design a tiger-themed deck of playing cards, how and what would it look like? Here’s how to submit your design/ideas:

1. Sketch or describe the idea for an ace, the back design, the court cards, or even the jokers.
2. Post your ideas on your Instagram page with the hashtag #mantecor3 and #mantecore and tag @mantecore.
3. Send @mantecore a DM with the design if your acc is private. Note: If you do not have Instagram you could also email your ideas/design to mantecorepc@gmail.com. 

The Mantecore team will choose 5 favorite designs/ideas and Edo will incorporate them into the final design. The plan is to get the deck on Kickstarter by the start of the year of the tiger in 2022 (1 Feb).

If the deck is successfully funded, the 5 submissions that the team chooses will receive one brick of the newly funded Mantecore deck shipped to you on the house. Disclaimer: All design/ideas submitted to the Mantecore team will allow them to use your design in part or fully if selected.

Submissions end 31 July and our favorite picks will be announced on 15 Aug.

3 Questions with Iñaki of COLLABS V1 Playing Cards

From Ckardist, COLLABS is a series of decks that will be a collaboration between Iñaki (Instagram: @Ckardist) and other cardistry and playing card brands. Now on Kickstarter, COLLABS V1 is the first in the series and features a collab with Marc (Instagram: @nothing.cards). Crafted for cardistry, Ckardist and NOTHING wanted a fun deck that would capture everybody's attention. This deck of cards is unique and very limited. It is fully custom and has some secrets. Ckardist told Kardify,

It all begins when I had the idea of creating the COLLABS series. This idea came to me, because in all these years I’ve been in the community I’ve heard lots of people wanting deck collaborations between 2 brands they love, even myself wished to see a few decks like those, that’s when I decided I had to bring that to the Ckardist brand, and it was time to make a deck. That’s when I met Marc, when I shared with him the idea of the COLLABS series he loved it, so we started designing the deck.

The deck features a two-way back design that has eyes scattered all over the dark black background. All the faces have been customized. On the number cards, there will be at least one pip customized with the design of the corresponding ace for the suite. The court cards might look standard but they have been recolored matching the colors of the back design. 

Last week, we had a quick chat with Iñaki about the inspiration behind COLLABS V1 Playing Cards, support from the community, and his favorite flourish and deck.

What is your inspiration behind the COLLABS V1 Playing Cards?

How did you guys come up with the idea? To design the deck, I started frequently contacting Marc, to find a design we both liked, so we were both sharing ideas of what the final design would be (all around the principal idea: a black deck with colorful details, including the Ckardist logos representing the Ckardist brand, and the eyes representing the Nothing brand). 

After lots of designs and some disagreement, Marc finally sent what is now the final back design, and we both loved it and wanted to keep it. After that we sent the prototype to Andrew (@androoshay who helped us with the trailer, the teaser, and pictures of the deck), designed the pips, and were ready for the Kickstarter launch.

We first noticed the deck on Instagram. What do you think of the playing card community in terms of the feedback and support that you’ve been getting so far?

As I said before, Ckardist was created 3 years ago, and I still can’t believe the number of people that have supported in all this time, I couldn’t be more grateful. This has helped me meet new people that also love playing cards (when I didn’t know any). Currently, I have many friends in the community I can talk to about what I most like. 

Finally, what are your favorite card flourish and playing card decks?

My favorite flourishes are Waterfall and Bloom. I’ve always admired how good they look, and can’t wait to see how they look on COLLABS V1. My favorite decks are Fontaine Window and Fontaine X Dabs Myla.
