SPECIAL EDITION Brain Dead Fontaines Are Up for Pre-Order

After raising $67,278 in 24 hours for BLM with the Chocolate Fontaine Playing Cards, Zach Mueller has just announced the SPECIAL EDITION Brain Dead Fontaines.

Zach has teamed up with Brain Dead to make a Special Edition deck for BLM. While normally the Fontaine brand do extremely limited print runs, this is an exception. According to Zach on the product page,

The goal is to raise as much as we can in deck pre-orders in the next 48 hours for BLM. After 48 hours, on June 10th at 12:00pm PST, sales will close so we can submit the order. The decks will take 2-3 months to produce and ship.

The deck features fully custom design with a grungy look and feel taking a cue from the post-punk, underground comic, and skateboarding subculture of the Brain Dead brand. The deck will be in a black/white colorway.

Deck View: 1st V3 Playing Cards

Magic. Leaves. Stunning.

Late 2019, Chris Ramsay released the highly anticipated 1st Playing Cards V3. The new addition to the 1st series is simply beautiful. Like the V1 and V2, the deck comes with stunning Metalux foiling on the backs and on some face cards.

Visually, the most prominent design update for the V3 is the inclusion of the leaves throughout the deck, from the card backs and Ace of Spades to the tuck box and court cards. The color palette of the traditional courts have been up updated to ensure consistency. Both jokers are also foil stamped and identical. One ad card features the foil stamped snake designed by renowned artist Abraham Garcia Sanchez. The deck comes in Mnemonica stack with a duplicate 4 of Spades and a playing card reveal on the King of Hearts.

The tuck case printed by Clove Street Press, featuring a mat white cardboard stock with embossing on the leaves and is beautifully wrapped with the iconic 1ST logo. The tuck interior also features a repeated 1ST logo in gold foil.

Fontaine Cards Raised $67,278 in 24 hours for BLM

Earlier this week, Zach Mueller released the Chocolate Fontaines five days ago and donated 100% of proceeds to Black Lives Matter. Zach raised a whopping $67,278 in 24 hours! On the Fontaine Card Instagram account, Zach thanked the community,

Thank you. We couldn’t have done this without the cardistry community. We all must take a stance on what is right.

The Chocolate Fontaines were sold on fontainecards.com for $15 each. The deck was originally released at Cardistry-Con, Portland but the hype of the Fontaine Futures overshadowed the limited release. Since then, cardists have been wondering when the remaining stock will be made available. According to Zach the delay was a result of a printing error,

Chocolate Fontaines dropped last July at Cardistry-Con, but only 3,000 were released. USPCC misprinted the remaining 7,000, and it took them a month or so to reprint them. By that time, we were busy with Fontaine Futures and Guess Sport, so we saved them for a rainy day.
