Atlantis Sink Edition Playing Cards on Kardify Spotlight

The Kardify ‘spotlight’ video series aims to give you the rundown on some of our favorite and unique decks of playing cards around. We aim to publish the 1-minute spotlight video every 3 weeks on our new Youtube channel (YouTube: kardify).

For this week, we have Riffle Shuffle’s Atlantis Sink Edition Playing Cards (buy). Sink Edition shows  Atlantis resting forever in the depths of the sea. The deck sports a cold blue design detailing in blue and silver foil. Behind, the buildings are a complete ruin, eaten by water and fire. WAVES Playing Cards Smashes Funding Goal!

In 2016, Asad Chaudhry created his first 52Kards brand of playing cards on Kickstarter called MINT. In 2018, MINT 2 Playing Cards became one of the most successful playing card projects in Kickstarter history raising over $560k!

Fast forward two years 52Kards is back on Kickstarter with a brand new playing card design… WAVES. The deck has raised over $150,000 from over 2,000 incredible backers in the first 24 hours of launch on Kickstarter.

Designed by Edo Huang, the mesmerizing deck has a trippy illusion design! Stare at the card for a while and watch the design come to life as it sways back and forth with subtle movement. This creates a low-key flipbook animation effect when the cards are shuffled in reverse directions and riffled.

The face cards are tastefully customized and pay homage to traditional aesthetics. The court cards come with a refreshing twist and are easily recognizable… ideal for magicians and card players.

The eye-catching Aces are elegant and come with a wavy design element, consistent with the overall look and feel of the deck. The identical Jokers are a minimal rendition of the famous painting “The Great Wave” by the Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai.

Three editions are available during the Kickstarter campaign: Standard, Limited, and Day One. Each edition of the Waves deck will have a distinct color to easily distinguish them from each other.

The Standard Edition Waves deck features the intriguing design in a black & white colorway on a bordered card. This is the UNLIMITED version of the deck that will be mass-produced and continue to sell long term.

The Kickstarter exclusive Limited Edition Waves deck features a borderless design that expands to the outer edge of the card. The borderless design further enhances the depth and motion illusion in the card.

The Kickstarter exclusive Day One Waves deck comes with an inverted color scheme and is an incentive deck for early bird project backers for the first 24 hours.

Deck View: Stratosphere Playing Cards

Space. Future. Astronaut. 

Originally researched and printed from 2016-2017 for the Space of the Art Kickstarter campaign, Stratosphere is a stunning deck that feels and looks like the future. The deck is manufactured with solar-sail material, typically used to propel spacecraft with radiation pressure exerted by sunlight. 

The deck is designed by Nick Vlow and printed in a deep space blue color that fits with the theme, allowing the holographic solar-sail material to shine around those lines in full intergalactic glory. 

The custom card faces features space man / astronaut / cosmonaut and printed metallic gold Pantone ink visors, with a clear spot UV applied over the top to give it that extra shine.

Mesa Ventus Playing Cards by Lotus in Hand Drops TODAY!

Today (14th May) at 12pm ET, Lotus in Hand will be releasing the Mesa Ventus playing cards. The eye-catching deck features a modern design with a modern cream/white colorway.

The semi-borderless back design with a blue/orange accent and a center vortex design accentuate the cards in cuts and spins, making flourishes hypnotizing. The face cards have been simplified and updated with the color palette of the deck
