Released in 2018, BOCOPO Playing Card Co.'s Pinball Playing Cards is a nostalgic tribute to the best game included with the Windows OS. The virtual pinball table with blinking lights and arcade sounds, 3D Pinball seemed like magic back in the 90s and this deck is designed to bring the magic back into your hands. The deck sports a contrasting blue, white, and beige colorway, which makes the design pop!

The card backs feature a borderless geometric design inspired by the game. The face cards are fully custom and the geometric design from the backs have been applied throughout. The courts and Ace of Spades, in particular, are very well done! The color palette adds energy and fun to the deck. The pips have been redesigned and work well with the overall theme of the deck. However, at first glance, the pips have the same color scheme and style, making it hard to distinguish each suit. However, once you get used to it, there are no problems.

Final 48 Hours! Parasol Tree Playing Cards on Kickstarter

Final 48 hours on Kickstarter, Bocopo Playing Cards Co.'s Parasol Tree Playing Cards have raised $71k of their initial funding goal of $8k. Many will notice the familiar fan design of the tuck box of Luna Moon.

For this deck, the fan-like design of the box represents the illusion of the phoenix soaring into the sunlight. Fully custom, the back design is derived from the glorious sight of a phoenix reaching nirvana. The smooth lines and contrasting black and white colors are reminiscent of ancient tribal totems. Silver metallic ink is used to emphasize the features of the phoenix.

For the court cards, the prominent white lines give the impression of a light emanating right from the middle of the card. The density of the lines reveals the silhouette of the court cards.

Each Ace card features a silhouette of the phoenix. Around it, the sun rays are forming a halo, which comes together to form an abstract version of the respective card suits.

The Jokers show the phoenix close to the sun, about to reach Nirvana. Its wings melted under the enormous heat, and when its feathers turned into ashes, the ferocious flames suddenly softened, as if answering the gentle prayers of people. This stunning scene is represented on the Joker cards by a halo of white lines.

Jungle Lost Deer Playing Cards is the follow-up to the Lost Deer Playing Cards by BOCOPO Playing Card Co. Currently funding on Kickstarter with a week to go, the new edition now sports an orange colorway. From the project page,

The new version of the Lost Deer selected the burning sun-like orange yellow, with bright and full colors and pure white background. It adds tropical jungle-like enthusiasm in the fantasy-like mystical atmosphere. The mysterious deck has been designed by Eriksson, based on his dream. In the dream, Eriksson lost his way in a misty woods filled with disappointment and was unable to escape. When he desperately wanted to give up, a roe deer appeared. The high antler was like a flag of pride and led him to step out of the terrible dream. When Eriksson woke up, he translated this dream into his creative inspiration, so Lost Deer Playing Cards was born.

The design elements of the deck is a combination of Chinese and Western Art and Aesthetics. The popular low-poly design in the Western world has been used. We have been quite fascinated with all the new offerings from BOCOPO Playing Cards this year. ZONE Playing Cards, in particular, caught our eye due to the unique tuck case. I've had the prototype for a few months, and I can't seem to stop playing around with the tuck.

The team at BOCOPO playing Card Co have been coming up with some really cool playing card designs of late. Their latest deck, Furious Playing Cards is no different. Inspired by the super sports cars, this sleek deck is designed to make you feel the speed of the storm, the thumping shock, the fearless fanaticism and the pure joy of Cardistry!

Furious Playing Cards sports a black, white, and red colorway and features the image of lighting bolt throughout the deck to represent speed and movement.

Kickstarter: 5 Things You Didn't Know About Luna Moon Playing Cards by Bocopo Playing Cards Company and Kevin Yu

The deck has been inspired by the historical significance of the moon in both Western and Chinese culture- a symbol of change and repetitive cycles in life. The moon is associated with family, especially during the mid-autumn festival where mooncakes are to be eaten with a reunited family.

1. The Idea 
The idea for the unique tuck case is from peeling oranges. According to Kevin Yu,  "We wanted to mimic the different phases of the moon through the box, but there we couldn’t find the best way to do so. To our surprise, the idea hit us when we were peeling oranges during a group meeting. The peeling of the outside layer reveals the orange fruit, and we instantly began simulating the box opening with the orange peels."

2. The Color
The dark indigo color was selected because of its richness and depth, which black couldn’t deliver. 
 "The universe is always painted in black, but we chose to use a very dark indigo color. Black absorbs all light and it wouldn’t be able to create the perception of depth in the cards as we wanted. The indigo color also contrasts nicely with the metallic gold and together creating a rich color combination."

3. The Card Back Design
The backs are meant to represent looking beyond the Moon into the Milky Way. 
 "We wanted to create the cards as a separation of dimension, looking at the front side would be looking at the Moon from Earth, and the back would represent looking past the Moon into space. Instead of dotting the dark universe with stars, we chose to showcase the mesmerizing lights of the Milky Way to highlight the mysteries that the universe holds."

4. The Number 9
There are 9 moons when the case is fully open because the number 9 is strongly associated with the Chinese Dragon. "The importance of the number 9 is often overlooked even in Chinese culture. Ancient lore says that the Chinese Dragon had 9 children, and these children have been displayed in various illustrations for thousands of years. Being the largest digit, the number is also used to represent any large number of variations, and especially so for multiples of 9. For example, the variations of the legendary Monkey King is always referred to as 9 x 9 instead of just 81."

5. Constructing the Tuck Box
It takes 15-20 minutes to make the boxes by hand. 
"The complex procedures required to perfectly fold a box by hand takes over 20 minutes even for us. The unique craft paper guarantees that the box stays in its original form after opening and closing many times."
