Haines Playing Cards, this vintage-style deck is a modern take on a traditional theme, an homage to the Golden Era of classic playing cards; a fully custom deck of Poker size playing cards with classical faces and backs featuring 2 Jokers and an extra card, all drawn from scratch in an eye-catching retro colour-way using absolutely no stock elements or themes.

Some of you may recall the Imported Playing Cards Kickstarter campaign. Despite a positive response from the playing card community and several thousand pounds raised on Kickstarter, the project did not meet its funding goal and so the designer decided to self-fund the project, sparing no expense in using Legends Playing Card Co. to produce the decks to the highest standards on Viper Finish with a soft card matte tuck printed inside and out and finished with a custom sticker seal.

In designing this deck the artist, A. Haines, has strived to strike the perfect balance between fun and serious; between authentic and original; between the old and the new. This is a timeless deck with instantly recognisable features that can be used to perform Magic and Cardistry, play games such as Poker, or just to be used as a Collector’s item because of all the authentic historical features and rich traditional style.

The project was inspired by the vintage playing cards of a golden age that were imported and exported all over the world and the faces, backs, tuck-boxes, tax bands and import stamps to be found on these wonderful old decks.

The deck features all custom elements, the Ace of Spades sports the Mercury motif wrapped in a cluster of tobacco leaves while the other Aces have been adorned with an import duty stamp. The Jokers feature a dancing figure of Mercury as the trickster, the backs are a classic 4-way symmetrical design with a white border and the tuck is a closely observed design finished in the style of old tax wrappers on antique paper. The backs are a deep British Racing Green in colour.

The officially licensed Mistborn playing cards is an exciting collaboration between fantasy Author Brandon Sanderson and Kings Wild Project. This beautiful deck is based on the Mistborn series- a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action.

Fully custom, each card is beautifully illustrated and depicts a different character from the beloved fantasy story Mistborn. This first deck is inspired by the characters of the 1st Mistborn book, The Final Empire, and features multiple characters from the book, from the Lord Ruler, Kelsier and Elend, to Vin, Mare, and Steel Inquisitor.

The cards come with stunning foil on the face and card backs, giving it a touch of luxury and class. The deck is packaged in a minimalist dark blue tuck box with the Mistborn logo foil stamped on the front.

Cartamundi Announces Strategic Move to Elevate Playing Card Production

In a recent statement from Cartamundi, significant changes in their European production were revealed, impacting customer experience. The decision entails moving ALL European production to their Fournier plant in Spain, starting January 2024. Despite challenges, Cartamundi aims for smoother operations, improved efficiency, and quality.

The transition acknowledges concerns and ensures quality standards at the Fournier plant will either match or exceed those in Belgium. Amid this shift, Cartamundi anticipates faster cutting, consistent quality, and superior finishes. The team behind the B9 true linen finish will guide the transition process.

Due to capacity and unforeseen factors, there will be a temporary production pause until January. Cartamundi prioritizes minimizing disruptions and maintaining timely deliveries. Regular updates will address project feasibility and progress.

Series 1 Playing Cards by Xavier Spade

Magician Xavier Spade had worked hard on this fascinating project, integrating playing cards with augmented reality games. It will be a long-running project, with parts of it released one by one, starting with this deck. Introducing Series 1 Playing Cards, the Red Key.

The tuck box exterior features a vibrant red-colored box with the number 1 on it. It’s designed to look like it comes from the future with its cyber tech style. As it will be integrated with a puzzle, the box contains a secret code that will lead you to the game itself.

Inside, the card back design features a flashy red bordered background with repeating patterns of the word “No”. It has a unique marking system, in which you can identify the card without flipping the card.

Meanwhile, the face cards come with customized pips and the royals feature two-way illustrations of futuristic characters.
