JAL playing cards by Orion Playing Cards is a tribute to water and humanity’s eternal connection to this life-giving element. Derived from the Sanskrit word Jal, meaning water. This beautiful crafted deck celebrates its transformative power, from tranquil seas to the mysterious depths of night.

The two distinct editions are available during the Kickstarter campaign: Tranquil Waters and Night Waters. Both are available in Standard and KS-Exclusive Gilded variants. The Gilded Editions are Kickstarter-exclusive numbered decks, limited to the total pledged during the campaign, ensuring their rarity for collectors. Tranquil Waters captures the serene beauty of calm oceans under a clear sky, while Night Waters evokes the mystique of moonlit seas.

Each deck is a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship. The Gilded Editions feature holographic or fractal inky-blue side-gilding and intricate, quad-foiled tuck boxes with die-cut windows that reveal the vibrant gilding beneath.

The cards use holographic transfer printing, where foiling is applied first and then overprinted, giving them a luminous and three-dimensional effect. Tranquil Waters showcases holographic foiling that reflects sunlight in dazzling patterns, while Night Waters uses silver foiling for a moonlit shimmer. 

The court cards, designed by Bivas Bhattacharjee, tell stories inspired by humanity’s relationship with water. Kings, queens, and jokers represent water’s life-giving and destructive powers, with themes such as Poseidon commanding the waves and a monk casting blessings into the river. The pips incorporate aquatic motifs like fish, waves, and shells, while transparent areas on the cards allow the foiled details to shine through. Each card features a unique border pattern, ensuring no two cards feel alike.

The Tranquil Waters tuck box comes with holographic blue, matte silver, and deep blue foils, while the Night Waters tuck box incorporates deep inky blues, matte black, and cyan foils. Both editions includes embossed details, and the Gilded versions include die-cut designs that highlight the beautiful side-gilding. Even the inner tuck designs are meticulously crafted, with patterns inspired by ocean depths and mountainous waves.

Final Week on Kickstarter, CLEAR SKIES 2024 Playing Cards

In response to this ongoing crisis in Ukraine, Noir Arts released CLEAR SKIES 2024 Playing Cards— a tribute to Ukraine’s resilience and a way to support its ongoing fight for freedom. 

For this Kickstarter campaign, two decks are on offer: Destruction and Battlefield. The Destruction Deck is illustrated in fiery hues of reds, oranges, and yellows, capturing the devastation and chaos experienced by Ukrainians every day. Each card in this deck tells a story of destruction and loss, reflecting the deep emotional toll of the ongoing conflict.



In contrast, the Battlefield Deck pays tribute to the brave Ukrainian soldiers with a palette of muted greens and browns, representing the harsh realities of war. While it depicts the starkness of the battlefield, it also symbolizes the resilience and hope for peace that the soldiers embody. 

The card backs and tuck boxes of these decks are designed to match their themes. For the Destruction Deck, the back features a Tree of Hope engulfed in flames, symbolizing the burning aftermath of war. The tuck is crafted with vivid red soft-touch stock, complemented by red and yellow-gold foils to evoke a burning effect.



The Battlefield Deck showcases a camouflaged Tree of Hope, representing survival amidst the destruction. The tuck box is made from dark green textured stock and adorned with green and dark silver foils, reflects the resilience found on the battlefield. Both decks are housed in beautifully crafted tuck boxes designed by Bivas Bhattacharjee, displaying Ukraine's national symbols—the sunflower and the trident—representing hope and freedom.

BHOOMI Playing Cards

BHOOMI Playing Cards by Orion Playing Cards are the third chapter in an elemental series that explores humanity’s connection to nature, following the themes of water in JAL and fire in AGNI. The name “Bhoomi,” derived from Sanskrit, means “Earth” or “Land,” and the deck pays tribute to the planet as the enduring foundation of life.

Designed by Bivas Bhattacharjee from Old Gravity, this collection centers on the philosophy “The World is One Family.” This idea reflects the belief that all living beings share the same ground and are interconnected through the Earth.

Two main editions represent different aspects of the planet. The Bloom Edition celebrates the vibrant surface of the Earth with a rich palette of emerald green, forest brown, and gold. Its design features a symmetrical Tree of Life motif, intricate vine patterns, and solid gold gilded edges that reflect the energy of flourishing ecosystems.

In contrast, the Roots Edition honors the quiet strength beneath the surface. Using muted silver, deep umber, and copper tones, it evokes the ancient stability of soil, stone, and mineral foundations. Copper-colored gilding and subtle metallic details reinforce the grounded, subterranean theme.

The court cards tell a narrative of humanity’s relationship with the Earth through a diverse cast of figures drawn from history, mythology, and global culture. The characters include farmers, scholars, monarchs, and mystics—each representing a different connection to the land.

Even the aces reinforce this philosophy, with each symbol transformed into a stylised tree. The Ace of Spades features a powerful oak set against hypnotic woodgrain rings, the Ace of Hearts forms a canopy shaped like a heart, the Ace of Diamonds echoes the geometry of crystalline minerals, and the Ace of Clubs evokes the sturdy strength of a sacred grove rooted in fertile soil.

Across both editions, the number cards share a unified design language built around winding vines, organic geometry, and botanical motifs. The pips themselves are redesigned as miniature “Tree of Life” forms, reinforcing the idea that every suit and number represents a branch of the same ancient system. 

Both editions feature 56 custom poker-sized cards printed on premium 310gsm black-core stock by King Star. Pledge starts at $16 on Kickstarter.

Unity Deck on Kickstarter

Music enthusiast from New Jersey, Dexter Amistad, is fascinated with playing cards and began collecting them. He established a Facebook group called DripDrop Sounds and ShuffleCut52 to bring together individuals who share a passion for playing cards and music. As the group thrives, Dexter came up with an interesting playing cards project. He envisioned a deck which is designed by a group of playing cards designers known in the community. The designers agreed to this interesting pitch, and the decks are finally coming into fruition. Introducing Unity Deck.

The Unity Deck features designs created by renowned playing card designers within the community, showcasing both established and emerging talents. While the back design is uniformed, the face design will varied on every card.

Each designer is assigned a card to which they designed with the theme of the deck: Music and Cards. Some would work on the Courts, and some would work on the Numbers (in which he/she designed four of the same value yet different suits).

Other designers are assigned to design the tuck box as well as the extra thank you card and Jokers. There is an additional card that contains a variety of card back designs to honor the designers who had submitted their back designs. It is a one-of-a-kind Frankendeck that sends the message of unity.

The Unity Deck is available in three different editions based on the color of the tuck box and the chosen card back design. “Only For Fun” Edition features turquoise color scheme box with back design done by Bivas Bhattacharjee. “Just For Fun” Edition features ivory white color scheme box with back design done by Ritu Bhattacharya. “To The Sky” Edition features leather dark brown color scheme box with back design done by Marianne Larsen. All the cards will be printed by Kingstar Playing Cards.

For each of the Editions, there are three different versions. In the Basic Version, the cards are as standard as possible with no special features. In the Premium Version, the cards are printed with holographic foil layer on both sides. In Ultra Version, the cards are both having holographic foil layer on both sides and gilded with patterned metallic foil – “Only For Fun” features linear rainbow pattern, “Just For Fun” features prism gold pattern, “To The Sky” features radial rays pattern.

The tuck box for the Unity Deck is designed to look like an ancient tome, complete with the filigree decorations. The front side features an embedded French Horn. The back side features an emblazoned treble clef. The side of the box listed all the designers who contributed to the creation of the deck.The box is made of premium matte stock with a subtle foiled layer along with detailed embossing. These tuck boxes can be found on all the different editions and versions.
