Card Gear: RunIt Decks

Card Gear is our monthly feature dedicated to discovering new inventory, setup, and accessories used every day by card designers, cardists, magicians and collectors. The concept originated from the popular social media site, Instagram: #passthepockets. Whenever one of these hashtags come up on the social news feed, there's always something new to discover, no matter who that person is.

This month we have the EDC of Jed Frayne Kua, owner of RunIt Decks, a playing card retail shop based in the Philippines. RunIt Decks was created in 2010 for the sole purpose of providing access to decks to fellow cardists and collectors alike. Jed is a former information systems auditor for Philippines' Largest bank but quit his job to go full time with his passion - RunIt Decks. Jed is a collector of vintage casino decks, but when Jed is not collecting or running the store, he is a Gunpla hobbyist; a huge The Killers fan; and a player of Marvel Future Fight.

Bicycle Machine56 Playing Cards by Runit Decks

Wow! The third released by Runit Decks! Bicycle Machine56 Playing Cards is a fully customized cyberpunk-themed deck produced by RunIt Decks in collaboration with Indonesian design label Machine56. Founded by Rajaya Yogaswara, Machine56 is internationally recognized for its futuristic techwear aesthetics, bold typography, and graphic-heavy cyberpunk designs, bringing its distinctive visual identity into the world of playing cards.

Built around a clean white base accented with sharp black and red details, the deck presents a prototype-inspired vision of advanced cyber-mechanical design. The numbered cards feature futuristic symbols, modular graphics, and high-contrast suit arrangements that resemble interface systems, warning markers, and technical schematics drawn from a cyberpunk universe.

The court cards expand the concept further through large-scale triptych illustrations. When arranged together, the courts form interconnected cyberpunk robot artworks, creating a sense of world-building and visual continuity across the deck while rewarding collectors with hidden larger compositions.

The tuck box is centered around Machine56’s iconic G2 helmet, presented as a mech-inspired prototype unit surrounded by industrial graphic elements. The packaging continues the deck’s futuristic aesthetic with detailed mechanical artwork and a clean, technical presentation.

Bicycle Cycle of Venus Playing Cards by RunIt Decks

Bicycle Cycle of Venus Playing Cards is the 18th deck produced by RunIt Decks, featuring original artwork by acclaimed UK artist Jon-Paul Kaiser. The debut of Bicycle Paper Royals at ToyCon Philippines 2024 marks the exciting collaboration between RunIt Decks and renowned toy designers. This release stands out as the first deck to feature dual front covers, with BBG and Vee5 gracing each side—a novel design in the realm of playing cards.

The cards boast 100% custom artwork by WINNIEYIPPIE and VYNC, with 56 unique illustrated cards and dual front covers, each depicting a whimsical tale of BBG and Vee5’s enchanting tea-time party.

Bicycle Secret Fresh Playing Cards by Runit Decks

The Bicycle Secret Fresh Playing Cards celebrate the creative genius of Christian “Bigboy” Cheng, a major figure in art, streetwear, and sneaker culture in the Phillipines. Created in collaboration with RunIt Decks, the deck features custom artwork by Dhon Ragadio.



The court cards reflect Bigboy's passions, from streetwear to DJing, while the numbered cards and aces showcase his personal life, including his Pekingese dogs and love for basketball. The deck also includes playful phrases like "Mahal Kita" and "No Money, No Honey" on his lucky 6s and 9s, adding a touch of his mischievous charm. 

A unique feature of this deck is the two extra cards that form an interchangeable diptych, allowing you to arrange the image in two ways: one with Bigboy Cheng being chased by girls, and the other with him in pursuit. Bicycle Quiccs Playing Cards by RunIt Decks

Bicycle Quiccs Playing Cards marks the 10th release from RunIt Decks, uniting the world-renowned artistry of Quiccs with Bicycle. 

Born in the bustling Tiger City of Mandaluyong, Philippines, Quiccs has risen from a local creative to a global force, blending Japanese mecha, hip-hop, and street art into a style that has left its mark from Manila to New York and beyond. Through his Bulletpunk Universe and signature TEQ63 character, he has redefined the Filipino designer toy scene, inspiring an entire generation of artists.

This OG Black edition pays tribute to the original TEQ63 colorway that started it all. The matte tuck box features a tactile air-cushion texture, gold detailing, and subtle nods to Quiccs’ legacy, like the “63” insignia and his signature triple-dot motif. The back showcases the symmetrical TEQ63 blueprint-inspired card back design, a mechanical masterpiece pulled straight from the Bulletpunk Universe.

Meanwhile, the Ghost White edition comes housed features a clean white base contrasted with bold black detailing, accented with precise hits of red for a sharp, surgical edge. The overall design presents a cold and commanding presence that expands the visual language of the Bulletpunk Universe.

Inside, every card is 100% custom. The OG Black courts reimagine TEQ63, Mariko, and Ghost of Kurosawa in iconic colorways: OG Black, OG Blue, OG Red, and Manila Killa. For Ghost White, the deck delivers a stark counterpart, featuring a striking black face that flips the usual playing card palette. The Jack, Queen, and King cards showcase the ghost versions of TEQ63, Mariko, and Ghost of Kurosawa, each rendered in a mix of Ghost White with accents inspired by OG Blue, OG Red, and Manila Killa. These inverted forms offer a cold, high-contrast take on the originals, bringing a fresh visual punch to every suit.

The numbered cards carry mechanical reinterpretations of each suit. Special “6” and “3” cards across the suits form connected artwork when placed side by side, celebrating Quiccs’ signature number. Jokers feature Ravager, the darker TEQ63 clone, and two bonus cards create a graffiti-style art piece designed by Quiccs himself.

Detailed Look at Inception Playing Cards by Runit Decks

Inception playing cards is the first installment in the Creations Trilogy by Runit Decks. Created by combining unconventional shapes forming a familiar set of images - igniting imagination fueled by excitement, these seemingly inconsequential discoveries form part of a memorable experience: a grand revelation hidden in plain sight. According to the product page,

Inception Playing Cards is our modern-day approach in celebrating our origins: from the fierce warriors to the social classes, combat weapons to the traditional clothing, and mythical creatures to the national symbols - a culture worth telling.

With over a year in the making, every aspect of the design was created from the ground up by Dhon Ragadio- from the court cards to the aces, tuck, and numbered stamp seal. Even the packaging texture has been carefully selected that perfectly complements the overall design.

Featuring a fully custom artwork for each court card, numbered cards, aces, and jokers, without detaching from the playing card familiarity we are accustomed to. The vibrant artwork adds to the appeal of the deck.

The organic-looking card backs are composed of seemingly unusual shapes forming a familiar set of images, where one trivial discovery will lead to a successive larger discovery, and eventually, to a grand reveal.

The cards are secured inside a tuck box that features a wrap-around design with a card-like texture, capped with a numbered stamp featuring an iconic mark.

Bicycle Paper Royals Red Riding Hood Playing Cards

Bicycle Paper Royals Red Riding Hood Playing Cards is the 19th deck produced by RunIt Decks, featuring original artwork by Singapore-based artists and toy designers WINNIEYIPPIE and VYNC. Expanding their Paper Royals universe, the deck reimagines the classic tale of Little Red Riding Hood through a playful, comic-inspired narrative filled with humour, role-swapping, and imaginative storytelling.

The deck follows the adventures of the duo’s signature characters, BBG and Vee5, as they take turns playing both Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. One half of the deck presents Vee5 as Red Riding Hood and BBG as the wolf, while the other reverses the roles, creating two interconnected versions of the same story. As the cards are explored, collectors uncover a sequence of illustrated scenes featuring forest adventures, playful chases, disguises, and unexpected twists.

Designed as a miniature storybook, each card captures a unique moment in the narrative, allowing the deck to be enjoyed both as a functional pack of playing cards and as an illustrated visual journey.
