Deck View: Konbine Neko Food Guide Playing Cards

Playful. Whimsical. Delicious.

Designed by Hong Kong–based Mijiko, the Meechelin Food Guide Playing Cards is a charming fusion of Japanese convenience store culture, gourmet parody, and love of cats. Inspired by the Michelin Star, the deck celebrates konbini food as hidden culinary gems, reimagined through illustrated cats enthusiastically interacting with everyday Japanese snacks and meals.

The premium tuck box sets the tone with 3D embossing, gold metallic foil borders, and a foiled Meechelin “gold medal” emblem on the front, while the interior reveals a vintage-toned comic illustration of a convenience store scene. The card backs adopt an Art Deco style, enhanced with copper foil graphics, a UV-varnished Meechelin medal at the center, and sparkling foil gilded edges.

Inside the deck, the courts depict the “Best 12 Neko Foodies,” shown in playful double-ended illustrations centered around specific convenience store foods. Number cards combine menu-style visuals with fun etiquette and rules of Japanese konbini culture. Custom pips subtly reference Japan’s major convenience store chains—7-Eleven, FamilyMart, Lawson, and Mini Stop... while each Ace features a standout illustration of a cat dressed in store uniform.

Printed by WJPC on premium linen-finish stock, Meechelin Food Guide Playing Cards balance thoughtful design, cultural storytelling, and lighthearted illustration into a cohesive and highly collectible deck. For enquiries and orders head to Mijiko's Instagram: @hyugamijiko.

Deck View: Sushi Cats Playing Cards

Playful. Whimsical. Delicious.

Following the success of MEDCHA, Mijiko returns with Sushi Cats Playing Cards, a light-hearted deck that blends Japanese food culture with charming character design. The card backs feature two cats holding onigiri beneath a “Sushi” banner, flanked by fish motifs, with a subtle one-way element formed by the Japanese character for sushi at the center. Orange-pink foil gilding adds a shimmering, salmon-like finish.

The number cards reinterpret pips as sushi and onigiri neatly arranged on wooden trays, while the courts showcase 12 original Sushi Cat characters by PinLuck Butter, each themed around a different type of sushi and paired with humorous captions. The Aces use bold Japanese calligraphy, with the Ace of Spades featuring a wave-inspired illustration dotted with lounging cats. Two unique Jokers complete the set, depicting cats and sushi in playful repose.

Packaging continues the theme with a tuck box illustrated with cats clinging to seaweed-wrapped sushi, enclosed in a clear printed sleeve that completes the artwork.

Deck View: MEDCHA Playing Cards

Calm. Playful. Reflective.

MEDCHA is a beautifully-crafted themed infographic deck by Hong Kong designer Mijiko (Instagram: @hyugamijiko), blending tea culture with simple meditation practices. Inside, the card backs feature foil-accented, orange metallic gilding, and waterproof PVC construction.

Each numbered card offers small lessons... how to brew tea, its health benefits, and even tea-based cocktails, turning the deck into a gentle guide to mindful tea enjoyment. The deck’s courts feature charming Chinese Zodiac animals paired with short health horoscopes, adding a light, whimsical touch.

The Aces highlight four core principles of tea meditation: Taste, Feel, Observe, and Smell, while each suit represents a different type of tea. The deck is packaged in a premium matte tuck with metallic orange-brown foil and debossed detailing.
