Kickstarter: 3 Questions with Jason of Seers Laetus Playing Cards

Saxon and Jason have been friends for many years and attended the same high school. They would play with cards and show each other tricks and flourishes. One day Jason suggested to Saxon that it would be fun to make their own deck and give back to the community. That was in the GCSE year and they spent all of that time to conceptualize the deck. Then early in their A-Levels year, Jason and Saxon launched the Seers v1. Jason told Kardify,
Although Seers V1 didn't fund I kept on designing with Saxon's support and developed the Aspectu design and then the Laetus as well as more exciting decks for next year and following years! Although most are still just ideas!

Seers Laetus is the third deck by Seers Playing Cards currently seeking funds on Kickstarter. The contrasting colorway combined with the geometric card backs makes this deck truly striking. Crafted for cardistry, the deck offers two different rear fanning designs that will make flourishes stand out. The pips and indices are custom and the courts are pretty much standard with updated colorway.

Last week, we had a quick chat with Jason about the inspiration behind Seers Laetus, the community, and their favorite flourish and deck.

What is your inspiration behind the Seers Laetus Playing Cards? How did you come up with the idea?
As I said on Instagram Saxon hit me really hard with a big stick! No, I was looking at playing cards online and thought 'wow I have an idea!' after some adjustments to he initial design (spanning over a few weeks) we had a back design down, it's a bit of a boring story but it is the truth.

We first noticed Seers Playing Cards on Instagram. What do you think of the community in terms of the feedback and support that you’ve been getting?
Our community on Instagram (@theseersplayingcards) is especially friendly we always receive a great amount of support. Especially with our new decks. Our community and the general cardistry community on Instagram is absolutely awesome they are very helpful for us!

Finally, what are your favorite flourish and/or playing card decks?
My personal favorite flourish is the riffle fan, and my favorite deck is the Magus we plan to release next year, Saxon and I both love the Orbits they're amazing!

Thanks for your time, Jason! The Seers Laetus Playing Cards will be printed by the USPCC and are available NOW for $10 on Kickstarter.

5 More Days on Kickstarter! The Seers Magus Playing Cards

Now on Kickstarter, the Seers are crowdfunding two new magic decks: The Magus - Aurum and the Magus - Sanguis, an homage to the original Seers V1.

The custom back design of the Magus decks are detailed and refined. Making them visually appealing for magic routines and game nights.

As this is a magic deck, the card faces are semi-custom with standard court cards and a bold Ace of Spades. Practical and easily recognizable.

To give it a touch of elegance, Metallic ink (red metallic on the Sanguis and the gold on the Aurum) will be used on both the backs and faces.

As this is a magic deck, we included two gaff cards in each deck. Two additional Queen of Spades. One holding their respective deck and the other holding the Six of Spades.

The design style of the deck is continued on the tuck boxes. With the same baroque curves and striking design. The inside tuck flaps have a Six of Spades reveal a bonus for your magic routine!

Printed by the USPCC and pledge starts at $11 on Kickstarter.

The Seers Aspectu V2: Early Sunset Hits Funding Goal!

Currently seeking funds on Kickstarter, The Seers Aspectu V2 Playing Cards is the second deck in the Aspectu range and has hit its funding goal last week! The deck has been crafted for the cardists in mind with the aim of incorporating everything a cardists would want from a cardistry deck.

The fully custom deck comes in a contrasting pastel blue/pink colorway inspired by the evening sky. The design is not only eye-catching but aesthetically pleasing.

The back design is reminiscent of the Aspectu V1 but with more depth, for card fans and displays while maintaining a minimal style. The backs have a well structured two-way fan design which makes card flourishes stand out.

The faces cards are completely non-standard and even with a custom pip arrangement to set this deck apart from the rest. The centre fanning design works both ways bringing an extra splash of color to the front by reflecting on the back design. The Sunset vision of an Aspectu deck is by no means lost on the faces. Every element of the deck was designed with an awareness of the theme. Minimal courts and interesting pip arrangements put this deck on a different level compared to most others.

The tuck for the "Early Sunsets" features a wrap-around design and forms a display with 3 boxes. All Aspectu decks from now on will align with each other so you can mix and match your display.

Seers Aspectu V2 Playing Cards is printed by the USPCC on premium crushed stock with Air-cushion finish. Pledge starts at $10 on Kickstarter.

Gunslingers Playing Cards by Joker and the Thief

Now on Kickstarter, Joker and the Thief rides back into the frontier with Gunslingers Playing Cards, a deck steeped in the folklore of the Old West. Inspired by outlaws, ghost stories, and desert myths, the deck reimagines the brand’s iconic Joker and Thief as two elusive riders whose calling card... the Ace of Spades appears wherever they strike.

The back design illustrated by Pedro Oyarbide draws from late-19th-century American decks, merging classic symmetry with frontier grit. Two editions are offered during the Kickstarter campaign: a Standard version in deep reds and greens, and the Outlaw Edition with gold metallic ink that catches the light like treasure.

Each suit reflects a different face of frontier life: Diamonds embody ambition and its cost; Spades represent lawmen obsessed with justice and revenge; Hearts honour the land’s original warriors and seers; Clubs portray drifters and desperadoes who haunt saloons and shadows.

The deck’s Jokers bring the myth to life one living, one spectral... riding beneath a blood-red sunset.

The tuck boxes continue Joker and the Thief’s reputation for premium presentation: the Standard uses rugged letter-pressed textures, while the Outlaw Edition elevates the design with black stock, foil stamping, and embossing.

Printed by King Star, Gunslingers Playing Cards blends atmosphere, craftsmanship, and myth into a deck made for handling, displaying, and collecting. Pledge starts at $24 on Kickstarter.

Ludus Magnus Playing Cards, Less Than 3 Days Remaining on Kickstarter.

Produced by Michael McClure of Docs Playing Cards in collaboration with designer Brad Gabbard of Native Tongue Studios to create a deck built for the “Rare, Limited, and Luxury Edition” playing cards community on Facebook.

Over a year and a half in the making, Ludus Magnus is a thematic deck that befits a Roman-era currently funding on Kickstarter. The overall design of the deck is based on the Roman Gladiators’ theme depicting the Roman history of bloody sport in an arena, the empire’s form of entertainment.

The custom faces of the cards showcase a cross-section of the Colosseum, adorned with a golden foil broken border and center index. The Ace of Spades presents a sword and shield with the name of the deck and the initials of the card collector’s group.

The courts present the people of ancient Rome: maidens, seers, emperors, and gladiators. The back design is a sophisticated illustration of the Roman theme: shields with helmets and lion insignias along with a sword and a Roman phrase. It has a hint of the golden broken border as same as on the faces – creating a fabulous continuous line when the cards are fanned. The cards will be printed by Legends Playing Cards on the super smooth Viper Finish.

There are at least four editions of this deck on offer during the campaign. The Luxury Edition features embossed matte black with gold foiling. The Limited Edition features embossed matte black with gold and red foiling added with embossed matted red sleeve attached on the sides and back – like an arena opening its doors.

The exclusive RLLE Edition features embossed gold metallic with gold and red foiling. The Rare Edition features an embossed matte red tuck and sleeve with gold and red foiling. The tuck box design shows the big lion insignia guarded by four gladiator armory with showing the initials of involved parties in the creation of the deck.

Pledge starts at $17 for a single Luxury Edition OR get all four editions for $130 (including the Ludus Magnus Mini Deck) on Kickstarter.
