Kickstarter: 3 Questions with Daniel Gálvez of OMEN Playing Cards

OMEN Playing Cards was conceptualized by graphic designer David Navarro and Magician Daniel Gálvez. David and Daniel have wanted to work together on something for a long time. Thanks to the passion they both have for design, magic, and cardistry, OMEN playing cards has finally connected them.

The semi-custom deck features a bold circle in the center with 3 strokes on the top left and bottom right of the bordered card backs. The design element definitely makes fans and spreads eye-catching! The pips, indices, and Aces have been enhanced to give it a modern look and feel with a special highlight and subtle stroke in the center. The courts are pretty much standard with an updated color palette consistent with the overall theme of the deck.

We had a chat with Daniel about the inspiration behind OMEN Playing Cards, support from the community and his favorite flourish and cardistry deck.



What is your inspiration behind the OMEN Playing Cards? How did you come up with the idea?
Our aspiration is to transmit, through our passion for the design and magic, a revolutionary feeling of modernity and a new and strong personality for the new generation. We had this idea after analyzing the world of magic and realizing that it has been the same since it started to exist, and the cards needed a modern tweak. When we shared the first designs, people around us fell in love with it and therefore we directly took this opportunity to revolutionize new generations, without losing the essence of the classical world of magic and cardistry.

We first noticed OMEN Playing Cards on Instagram. What do you think of the community in terms of the feedback and support that you’ve been getting?
Our recently created community on Instagram has been our biggest support, they are amazing! Always very supportive and so enthusiastic with a huge percentage of likes for the number of followers we have. I am convinced that it's thanks to them that we decided to really get into this. We believe that communities around magic and cardistry are very friendly and passionate, which are exactly the values that we seek to transmit with OMEN. We would love the community to be our fundamental pillar when making decisions in everything we do.

Finally, what are your favorite playing card decks?
I have always used Phoenix and Copag 310 for magic. I also love collecting and my most special deck is the Bitcoin, a wonderful piece of art that is easy to use to make amazing magic tricks!

Kickstarter: Omen (Pirate Edition) Playing Cards

It's been a while since we've seen a pirate-themed deck on Kickstarter and out of nowhere, the team at OMEN Playing Cards released a fully custom deck based on fantasy pirate's world. This is definitely a different style from their deck, OMEN Revolution.

OMEN Playing Cards has been created with the vision of bringing a new style of playing cards. OMEN is defined by its unique and innovative design, as well as its exclusive protector cases in each edition. The drawing style of the Pirate Edition is characterized by its designer Dave Navarro and aims to transmit the vision fantasy world to all playing cards lovers in an amazing Pirate's adventure.

The card backs feature a combination of the most iconic objects of the fantasy pirate's world. The rudder in the center symbolizes the letter O of OMEN in reference to our brand, which is represented in each edition. The faces have been updated to suit the pirate theme; their traditional and broken shapes allow a perfect understanding of the clubs and maintain a balance between the classic and our style.

The four aces are quite prominently displayed in the deck. They are larger and contain a special design that reflects the style of the deck. The figures have been meticulously designed and illustrated for each of the suits and figures.

Each pirate has its own story within this particular fantasy universe. Finally, with the OMEN logo in the center and wrapped by the Kraken, the jokers are the signature cards of this Pirates Deck.

The team OMEN aims to innovate and therefore provides you with its special OMEN Deck Case. Each edition seeks to create a unique deck case set in the specific theme and usable with any other deck of playing cards. The Pirates Edition box is designed to simulate a beautiful wooden chest, with gold ornaments and diamond details. The key lock is hidden when the box is closed but visible from the inside. The inner printing is a wooden texture just like a treasure chest.

The deck will be printed by Hanson Chien Production Co. on Vintage Paper Stock with Legendary Finish, just like OMEN Revolution Edition. Also, a special pirate's coin made of zinc alloy is available as an add-on. The unique and antique gold finish makes it feel real and its size is like a half-dollar coin.

The deck is defined by its sleek, modern and striking design that gives the brand identity of its own and seeks to become a revolution for the new generation of magicians and cardists.

The semi-custom deck comes in a Red-White-Black and Blue-White-Black colorway and features a bold circle in the center of the borderless card backs. The design element of the backs is created to maximize fans and spreads!

The design of the card backs continues to the face cards with a wrap-around design, allowing for the continuation of card fans and spread using the card faces.
