Produced by Noir Arts and inspired by symbols of the Memento Mori, the haunting designs of the Carpe Diem and Vanitas deck in the Memento Mori Collection serve as a reminder of mortality and the afterlife.

According to designer Moritz Shaff,

Design for this deck was born in my head long time ago when I found this branch of art and liked. I want to insert all the meaning of this art inside of two standalone decks of playing cards. After 3 years, the Memento Mori Collection was realized.

Two different decks are available, Carpe Diem and Vanitas Playing Cards. The Carpe Diem is a black and white deck with clear background which better depict meaning of the “seize the day” aphorism. The tuck is embossed and custom sealed.

The second deck in the collection is Vanitas. Vanitas means”emptiness” and refers to the view of earthly life and the worthless nature of all earthly goods and pursuits. This deck is more artistic, with “aged” look and earthly color scheme.

Both decks are fully custom and the tucks will be enhanced with copper/silver foils and features interior printing of engravings from XIV-XV centuries.

Currently funding on Kickstarter and pledge starts from $13.
