Launched on Kickstarter last week, Aqua Species a new deck by Perpetual Arts Playing Card Company featuring hand-drawn artwork with ink and paper. This is the first of a 5 deck series representing the different elements.
The deck is inspired by the life of the sea. The face cards are unique and showcase beautifully detailed artwork combining marine microorganisms, fishes, gods of the seas and structures from the depths of the ocean. According to the product page,

The courts represent the Gods of the Seas and the card back design sports a glorious design that represents the ocean. From the door of the gods of the seas where the worlds separate to the treasure chest where they keep the most appreciated items and the power of the water element inside the sphere.
The Ace is a piece of art on its own and center of attention of the deck. The seahorse is the Joker with combinations of other water organisms and structures from the deep ocean. What we like about the deck is how the illustrations utilize different shapes and textures with colored dots that enhance the artwork.
