Final Week on Kickstarter! Ad Fontes Playing Cards by Old Gravity

For those who had been following Old Gravity, you will be familiar with the beautiful hand-painted illustrations on their playing cards. Now, they are back on Kickstarter with Ad Fontes Playing Cards, a deck exploring the Renaissance.

There are two main editions of the deck during the campagin: Regal and Scholar Edition. The Scholar Edition features a simple tuck box printed in CMYK with soft touch finish.

The Regal Edition features the same tuck box as the Scholar Edition, but comes with additional finishes that makes it luxurious and fitting for collection displays. The intricate debossed elements are complete with ornately metallic foiling in STUNNING gold and copper foil. Both editions are designed to look like a book.

The artworks for the entire deck create a callback to the rich and beautiful history of the Renaissance era. The back design features engraving-style art showing some elements from the era. The face cards will have an aged brown parchment paper like on the background to signify the era the deck is based.

The numbered cards featured customized pips in non-standard arrangements. Each suit featured important aspects surrounding the Renaissance era. Hearts represent the Arts; Diamonds represent Politics; Clubs represent Religion, and Spades represent Exploration.

Each set of courts from their respective suit features important figures coming from the Renaissance era: such as Leonardo da Vinci and Christopher Colombus.

Not only are these hand-painted artworks stunning, but these paintings are also created using art techniques introduced during the era. The background details complete the profile of each court.

Vacuum Tube Space Playing Cards Now on Kickstarter!

Just launched on Kickstarter, the Vacuum Tube Space deck is a fascinating sci-fi-themed deck created by Russian graphic designer Vitaly Sinkevich and produced by Deallez Pro.

Vitaly was born in Baikonur (former Leninsk) and witnessed that analog era of space flights from the closest distance. These old memories spiced with some glamor and sci-fi, and a layer of varnish on top make the Vacuum Tube Space deck style.

Just imagine if at some point in mid-XX an accidental discovery or maybe a small calculation mistake of a man led to a dramatic breakthrough in gravity research. Mankind made another giant leap and the anti-gravity force was mastered and tamed...

That's the beginning of a legend of the Vacuum Tube Space deck. The deck presents a world where analog devices have never been replaced by digital ones. The huge and imperfect mechanisms with the brave astronauts on board were sent by humanity to explore the deepest space. 

The fully custom deck features 56 cards with cartoon-style images on each of them (54 + 2 extra images of Vacuum Tube World locations), a very detailed back design with vacuum lamps, tubes, old TV sets, burning rocket nozzles, analog switchers, and dial gauges!

The court cards feature colorful cosmonauts, and astronauts of the Vacuum Tube World – members of the international crew of some very important space campaign. The custom aces depict compositions with curious components, which are specific to analog technologies. Vacuum tubes are presented in each of the aces.

The deck is kept in a tuck box pretending to come from the sixties of the imaginary twentieth century, where the whole story of the deck takes place.

The design mimics the look of an old TV set wearing a playful dress and everything we like about the playing cards package: the original style with a story behind it, shiny golden foil, embossed elements, and color-printed interior.

3 Days Remaining! Entwined - Vol. 1: Summer Playing Cards on Kickstarter

Entwined - Vol. 1: Summer is the first of four decks in a series based on the ballet of nature and the freedom of spirit. Currently funding on Kickstarter, this beautiful deck is a collaboration between Old Gravity and artist, Ritu Bhattacharya (Twitter: @artwork_by_ritu).

On the exterior, the tuck box is intricately designed, beautifully embossing and comes in two variations- Summer Gold and Summer Rose. Both are dual-foiled with a rich metallic-gold or rose-gold base, coupled with a beautiful blue foiling, a homage to the enriching power of the warmer days. The tuck comes with a wrap-around design and putting them together forms a continuous design.

Inside, each card has been meticulously hand-drawn, taking inspiration from ballet, and then entwining it with nature. The gorgeous face cards sports a warm color palette, expressing the warmth of summer, and its rejuvenating heat. 

Each dancer is coupled with the grace of an animal or bird symbolizing the symbiosis between the soul and nature’s spirit. 

The artist brilliantly envisioned each number card suit as leaves on a branch. Each denomination increasing the number of leaves against four beautiful summer landscapes. Each suit is based on a leaf, the ginkgo leaf for the heart, the papal leaf for the spades, the oak leaf for the diamonds, and the maple leaf for the clubs.

The aces are fully custom and the two playful ballet dancers are showcased on the two joker cards.

The card backs prominently features the graceful swan and decorated with rich ornate design in stunning metallic gold or rose gold foil, giving it a touch of class. The borders are printed in metallic ink as well.

Taj Mahal Playing Cards

The timeless beauty of the Taj Mahal has been transformed into a work of playable art with the release of the Taj Mahal Playing Cards. Produced by Nova Lux Decks and designed by artist Ritu Bhattacharya of Old Gravity with her husband Bivas, the deck pays tribute to the elegance, craftsmanship, and cultural richness of the Mughal Empire.

The Kickstarter campaign features two luxurious editions: Day and Night. Each deck celebrates a different side of the Taj Mahal. CLEAR SKIES Resistance Playing Cards on Kickstarter

Following the success of Clear Skies Freedom and Unity decks last year, Roman Kotiv is back on Kickstarter with a new deck variant, Clear Skies Resistance Playing Cards.

This new edition is inspired by the Ukraine flag uniform patch soaked with blood – from its original color of yellow and blue turned into red and black. The artwork and design of the deck is similar to the previous editions but in black and red colorway.
