Sixty-two year old Richard Turner is renowned as one of the world’s greatest “card mechanic”… yet he is completely blind! DEALT is an in-depth look at a complex character who is one of magic’s greatest hidden treasures. DEALT had its world premiere at SXSW where it won the audience award in the Documentary Feature Competition.

Richard explains early in DEALT, “What I do with cards, a magician cannot do.” His trademark sleight of hand is incredibly smooth, controlled and fluently deceptive. He can manipulate a deck of cards and control the outcome as he chooses without any detection. Watch Richard’s amazing performance on Penn and Teller: Fool Us! below:

DEALT traces all the way back to Richard’s childhood as he struggled with losing his vision, to his discovery of magic and being mentored by Dai Vernon – known as “the only man to fool Houdini” – this film will explore Richard’s seemingly impossible journey of overcoming obstacles and the relentless dedication it took to achieve his dream.

Today, his feel for a deck of cards is so incredible that The United States Playing Card Company employ his services as a “touch analyst” to evaluate the texture, flexibility and cut of dozens of decks of cards each year.

See Richard Turner’s incredible true story in Theaters and on VOD October 2017 from IFC Films.
