The Aristo Steampunk playing cards Kickstarter campaign launched on February 12 was fully funded within the first 24 hours. At the time of writing the deck has now raised over $17k with 5 days to go.

This fully custom deck is inspired by XIX century industrial steam-powered machinery and American “Wild West” sci-fi world. The hand-illustrated artwork of the deck is truly gorgeous. According to the designer on the project page,

We’ve put together some awesome ideas of Steampunk in art and playing cards, that really epitomize its incredible style. A real thing of exclusive artwork. We desired to create something a bit more rare, giving Cardists something more meaningful.

The deck is presented in a completely imaginary realm coexisting with steam-era and other anachronistic technologies. The idea is to integrate the old and new! Combining modern technology with the design aesthetic and philosophy of the Victorian age.

The gorgeous one-way courts feature meticulously hand-illustrated characters in Steampunk outfit equipt with guns, bowler hat, goggle and military-inspired garments synonymous to mainstream fashion, and Aristocrat styles.

The Pips combine elements of techno-fantasy imagery in mechanical “steampunk” style. The darker tone design gives a balance between form and function that fantasized American Wild West-era gadgets. The ornate Aces are decorated in clockwork mechanism style with springs, cogs, and gears. The detailed design makes every single card unique and intriguing.

The one-way card backs feature a wall piece representing a sophisticated looking clockwork mechanism with cogs, pistons, geats, and screws. The clockwork holding the various metal pieces together really adds to the Steampunk aesthetic of this eye-catching piece of art.

Aristo Steampunk playing cards will be printed by The United States Playing Card Company and pledge starts at $14 on Kickstarter.
